Steven Randall is an interdisciplinary artist working with sculpture, photography and installation to examine the relationship between consumer, commodity, and transformation. Within a culture of feverish consumption and retinal impatience, he often employs a meticulously manufactured realism to recreate “fast” objects by the slowest means possible. His most recent body of work explores the boundaries between perceived symbols of interior and exterior spaces.

His work has been selected for exhibitions at various galleries in Richmond, Buffalo, New York, New Orleans, Aspen, Connecticut, and Beijing. Steven is the recipient of the Toby Devin Lewis Fellowship Award, a Sculpture Fellowship through the Virginia Commission for the Arts, and a Graduate Research Grant through Virginia Commonwealth University. He has also been awarded a Visiting Artist Grant at the Institute for Electronic Arts as well as receiving the Advanced Environmental Art Grant through Collaborative Concepts in New York.

Since graduating from Alfred University in 2010, he has worked as an art handler, screen printer, high school art teacher, and research assistant at the Metropolitan Museum of Art where he conducted tours of the museum’s collection and worked in the publishing department. He recently received his MFA in Sculpture + Extended Media from Virginia Commonwealth University and will be embarking on residencies in New Mexico, New York, and Wexford Ireland.
